The Royal Academy Summer Show 2021

I’ve recently entered my latest painting in this year’s delayed RA Summer Show. It’s called The Violinist and it’s the latest of my paintings featuring musicians.

As you may know, if you’re familiar with my previous works, I’m fascinated by movement and how painters can show it. You may also know that Picasso is very much an inspiration for me, but whereas Picasso painted different profiles side-by-side to evoke the impression of movement, I use transparency of the head, the hands and the arms.

Anyhow, I’ll hear in early July if The Violinist has been accepted into the Show…fingers and brushes crossed!

As a postscript, I’m now working on the next painting in this series, to be titled The Harpist.
